About the Center

An independent voice on the most consequential region of the 21st century.

Founded in 2011, NorthRiverAsia is a non-partisan research institution dedicated to rigorous, policy-relevant analysis of relations between the United States, Japan, Taiwan and China.

The NorthRiverAsia was established to provide European audiences — and their counterparts in Asia and North America — with sustained, expert analysis of the diplomatic, security and economic dynamics reshaping the Indo-Pacific.

Our research is independent of any government, political party or corporate sponsor. We publish policy briefs, working papers and strategic assessments; we convene closed-door roundtables and Track 1.5 dialogues; and we advise public-sector ministries, central banks, multilateral organisations and global enterprises navigating geopolitical risk.

NorthRiverAsia is headquartered in central London, with permanent liaison offices in Tokyo and Washington, D.C. Our 42 resident fellows and a global network of non-resident affiliates bring together former diplomats, intelligence professionals, industry leaders and academic specialists.
